Dishwasher Elbow

I ripped out our old dishwasher and then enlisted the help of the younger to install the new one.

It was not an overly complicated project but it was tedious. There are a ton of tiny annoying things that need tended to and a few things took place that turned a project that takes 20 minutes for a professional into a 20 hour project for me.

What made this project the most frustrating is that the new dishwasher needs this part.

Let’s take a look.

The part is called a dishwasher elbow. I assume this means that it is only used for dishwashers. The only reason it exists is to force people to stop their project midway and head to the hardware store to retrieve it.

So my question is...why doesn’t it come with the dishwasher? Or why is it even necessary?

House water lines are a standard 3/8 and the dishwasher is 3/4. The most simple solution would be to make a dishwasher with a water intake that is the same as the house water line. If there is some important reason that I don’t understand that the dishwasher must have a 3/4 opening, why doesn’t the dishwasher come with this part?

This is the stuff in life that just doesn’t make any sense at all.

World peace, race relations, the economy and COVID-19 are big issues that have more than one solution and a million different viewpoints, but this dishwasher elbow, this seems like a solvable problem!

Come on America let’s get this problem solved. DIYers around the country need this right now.
