In the Waiting

Abraham waited about 15 years from the time he was promised a child until Isaac was born.
Joseph lived 23 years from the time he had a dream that his brothers would bow before him until the dream became a reality.
Caleb and Joshua roamed the dessert for 40 years between the first time they stepped foot into the promised land and when they finally called it home.
400 years passed from the last time God spoke to his people until John the Baptist arrived on scene declaring the Messiah was coming.
Three days dragged on from Jesus' death on a cross until he rose from the grave.

Waiting....it can be 3 hours, 3 days, 3 months, 3 years, or 3 decades.  Waiting is hard.

Waiting for answers, waiting for a return, waiting for a phone call, a diagnosis, a prognosis, news, understanding, peace, direction, relief and fulfilled promises.

There are very few circumstances where waiting is fun.  Waiting pushes patience and hope to the limit.  It often brings brings questions, worry, and doubt.  We sometimes try to hurry the process or come up with alternate solutions.

You have waited 4 full months for something to show up on this blog other than a bag of broken chips, congratulations!

No matter how hard the waiting is, there are good things that come with it.  There are lessons learned that couldn't have been otherwise, there are blessings bestowed on us in ways that can only come through hardship, and there is preparation - preparing us and all the stakeholders for this thing to finally take place.

To those waiting for a peaceful night's rest, for a phone call from a child, for restoration of relationships, for healing, for laughter and for dreams to come true...hang on.  One day...it will come and it will be beautiful.
